6’7” 220lbs 4.94 forty yard dash
Mike Glennon has been garnering attention his whole life. The younger brother of Sean Glennon, former starting QB at Virginia Tech, Mike Glennon has always had the scrutiny of being compared to his older brother. Mike Glennon has not only exceeded expectations but has passed his brother as the best QB in the family. Glennon a former ESPN 150 ranked QB and Under Armour All-American had an up and down career at NC State. His senior year, Glennon threw for more than 4000 yards and 31 touchdowns to 17 interceptions. Glennon completed 330 of 564 passing attempts, giving him a completion 58% completion percentage. The most disturbing of Glennon’s stats is the 36 sacks his senior year which puts him near the top of QB’s entering the draft. In only 1 of Glennon’s 7 wins his senior year did he throw for more than 300 yard’s. In 4 of his 6 losses Glennon averaged over 400 yards passing. In losses against North Carolina and Clemson, Glennon threw for 467 and 493 yards respectfully. Simply put Glennon was far more successful when the whole offense was involved and he did not have to try and win games on his own. There is no denying Glennons arm strength and throwing accuracy. He will need to do a better job in the face of pressure and learn how to throw the ball away in order to keep from getting sacked so much in the NFL. He will have to quicken his release and learn to anticipate pressure. Glennon is a proto-typical QB coming into an NFL where DE’s and OLB’s have become extremely fast and can close on a QB in under 3 seconds. He will have to use all of his smarts and football I.Q. to be successful in today’s NFL like other more agile, quick-footed QB’s. Look for Glennon to struggle if placed in a starting position early on. Glennon will need to go to a team with an already good starting QB by which he can sit back and learn from. Look for Glennon to leave the draft board between the 3rd and 5th rounds.
